ABOUT US

In December 2015, Lisa took what she had learned from operating her practice in Iowa and opened Active Balance Physical Therapy, LLC in a rented space at the Tongue River Valley Community Center in Dayton. It didn't take long before she outgrew that space and moved to the current location.

It has been rewarding to be able to grow and offer physical therapy and dry needling services in the Tongue River Valley communities.

We often hear words of appreciation from our patients that they don't "have to make another trip to town" to get good physical therapy care.

We provide very manual, hands-on treatments and look at the whole picture of how the body ties together. Evaluation of the whole body can lead to identification of compensation patterns that direct us on how to treat the dysfunction.

Our philosophy is ‘Movement is Our Medicine’. We know that as we get older, we have to move more to keep going. Everyone from our older patients to our student athletes get a home program that incorporates movement, strengthening and goals. We believe that it’s never too late to build strength

Our goal is to help our community be healthy. Whether that’s getting out of the house to work in the garden, carry a laundry basket, rehab for getting back into sports or work, we want to help them realize that they can do more than they think. We want to help the community stay healthy and moving.

WHO WE ARE

Lisa-Stutzman_edited.jpg
Lisa Stutzman
Owner + Master of Physical Therapy

I have been practicing physical therapy since graduating from University of Iowa in 1996. I have worked in a variety of fields including outpatient, inpatient, skilled care, home health, industrial rehab, sports, and schools. I enjoy evolving my treatments by learning new techniques and focusing to improve my skills with each patient. I enjoy being a physical therapist because I can take the time to get to know my patients in multiple ways which can only help to progress in their rehabilitation.

My husband Mark and I have 4 children, Luke, Hailey, Erika and Hatcher. As a family we enjoy hunting, camping, hiking in the mountains, and traveling when possible. I have really enjoyed becoming part of both the Ranchester and Dayton communities and we feel very blessed to be here.

Leah Mentele
Doctor of Physical Therapy

I have been a physical therapist since May 2019 when I graduated from University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. I am originally from Nebraska and will always bleed Cornhusker red, but have loved living in Wyoming since I graduated. I have worked primarily in orthopedic physical therapy but have also taken additional education to treat the pelvic floor and perform functional dry needling. I love guiding women through the ups and downs of pelvic pain and leakage, the journey of pregnancy and postpartum, and many other conditions to seek out a pelvic floor physical therapist! One of my favorite parts about being a physical therapist is helping someone realize that movement can be a solution to the pain or dysfunction they have and being the guide to help them achieve their goals.

My husband, Kurt, and I married in June 2022, we welcomed our first child in May 2024.  We have enjoyed making the Tongue River Valley our home. We enjoy all the outdoor recreation that the area has to offer and I am a lover of hiking, camping, skiing, and kayaking. I enjoy weightlifting, running, reading, live music, and great food and drinks. I can’t wait to help the community return to activity and remain active in their lives!

Doctor of Physical Therapy

I’ve been practicing as a Physical Therapist since graduating from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND in 2023. Before attending PT school, I spent time working in the insurance industry, but left the career to pursue my passion in wellness and helping people with PT. Since graduating, I’ve worked in an outpatient setting seeing a variety of patients and conditions, as well as providing home-based and school-based care.

I have completed continuing education to become Dry Needling certified, as well as hone my skills with strength and conditioning, neurovestibular rehab, and pediatric therapy. I love what I do as a Physical Therapist as it allows me to build relationships with my patients and get them back to doing what they’re passionate about.

I was raised in small town in Northern MN where I spent a lot of time outdoors. I moved to Wyoming in 2023 after spending time with my family in the Big Horn mountains and couldn’t imagine calling anywhere else home at this point. Outside of work I love to hunt, hike, fish, and spend time outdoors with my family.

WHAT OUR PATIENTS HAVE TO SAY

"If you have orthopedic issues, Lisa Stutzman is the physical therapist for you.  Not only is she highly trained, she is sensitive, intuitive and curious. Lisa incorporates effective manual modalities into her treatments which are designed to move you forward.

She evaluates your individual progress and capabilities rather than some insurance driven boilerplate expectation. Lisa has helped move me forward after a difficult shoulder fracture.

As a health care professional myself, I wouldn't work with anyone else. "

-- Patty K.

"Active Balance was a great way to heal my injury, they where great physical therapists and would always work with you around your schedule to get you in and help you recover."

-- Student Athlete

"Professional, Dedicated, Knowledgeable, Committed, Compassionate, Caring, Focused, Thoughtful, and Understanding - are just some of the adjectives we would use to describe the team at Active Balance Physical Therapy, LLC.

Moving to Dayton, WY from Iowa two years ago, Doug and I did not expect to find a physical therapy office closer than Sheridan. Much to our surprise, we discovered Active Balance Physical Therapy, LLC in our little town.

Working with Leah Mentele twice a week has helped Doug’s overall physical and mental health. Leah has show great understanding and creativity while working within Doug’s limitations. As a result, Doug is stronger and more capable of helping me care for his needs. Doug and I feel that this is a “win win” for us and a testament to Leah’s training and skill.

Doug and I feel very fortunate to have Active Balance Physical Therapy, LLC in our small town of Dayton Wyoming!

We appreciate your dedication and hard work!

Thank You!"

-- Doug & Mary A.

"Lisa is amazing. She has helped in my recovery from a long illness. I am stronger than even before I became ill. I especially appreciate that she explains what she is doing and why. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs physical therapy."

-- Genille D.
